There’s nothing wrong with JPs hearing cases alongside CJs which is the proposal & what happens in CC appeals. Whether that SHOULD be the case is a different story!

It’ll be interesting to know. 11% of CC rooms not being used today according to the report. You’d hope they would use those - but inevitably those rooms will end up becoming old & needing work. It makes more sense to make the investment now you’d think.

There’s nothing left in Labour that is actually progressive. And in one election cycle the polls indicate they’ve done as much damage to themselves as the Conservatives did over 14 years.

It wasn’t, but there was a promise that things would improve - and they haven’t. They’ve gotten worse. I suppose it’s just an example of how difficult it can be to manage the economy, whatever the political orientation of government.

It was a hypothetical question and if you read on, he points put he has no intention to step down. In the context of the question he was asked it’s an honest reply - MPs get criticised when they lie and criticised when they’re honest. No wonder so many choose the easier option of lying.

There’s nothing grammatically incorrect about it :)

I read a quote today which made me smile and it’s probably true: “it’s difficult to see how the BBC can be considered biased when it is universally hated by everyone”.

Shouldn’t have commented on a video potentially out of context without knowing of what you speak 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

You took the time to make the thread; was probably worth taking the time to find the names of the people you were talking about, too. Just my opinion.

If you won’t name names & thereby give people full information to make informed decisions about who they associate with, support etc in the future, this entire post is pointless

Elected means they’re voted in. Your SC is appointed. But your usual judges appear to be elected by the public and that’s made because it becomes a race based on money & popularity, not judicial competence. Which is just mad.
March 20, 2025 at 7:37 AM
I just think it’s mad that any country has elections for judicial posts.

But unfortunately that didn’t stop the American populace voting them in again, after they did the same in the last Republican presidency.

Should have said named* in the press

He’s clearly decided it’s time to get blamed in the press. Maybe he’s been told to make a noise to distract from other stories about Labour politicians …

Many websites on Google suggest it was the Grand Lodge of England:

“The Grand Lodge of England issued a charter on September 29, 1784 to African Lodge #459, the first lodge of Blacks in America.”

So I’d guess London rather than Ireland. I’m six websites in now and most say England.

But did you walk on stairs …

Well the prosecution costs is right & the surcharge is right based on the fine, so I tend to think there’s the ring of truth. CourtServe doesn’t seem to have a daily archive however so the list doesn’t go back that far. It would be right that notification isn’t triggered by the imposition of a fine.

You are. That’s entirely the point, isn’t it? You’re entitled to that opinion and the farmers are entitled to protest. Just as JSO are entitled to protest. Just because you don’t agree with their message doesn’t mean they aren’t allowed to say it.
