GUYS, I POSTED THIS THREE WEEKS AGO WHEN DANNY KRUGER DEFECTED. AND NOW...
Barry Dunning has defected to Reform UK

This is one of the prayers that Jews traditionally recite on Yom Kippur.

Cannot read it without crying right now. Hold your loved ones close.
On Rosh Hashanah it is inscribed,
And on Yom Kippur it is sealed.
How many shall pass away and how many shall be born,
Who shall live and who shall die,
Who shall reach the end of his days and who shall not,
Who shall perish by water and who by fire,
Who by sword and who by wild beast,
Who by famine and who by thirst,
Who by earthquake and who by plague,
Who by strangulation and who by stoning,
Who shall have rest and who shall wander,
Who shall be at peace and who shall be pursued,
Who shall be at rest and who shall be tormented,
Who shall be exalted and who shall be brought low,
Who shall become rich and who shall be impoverished.

I’m sorry, I just can’t get over this. It’s like watching a shark get chewed up by a bigger shark.

A lot of people are reacting to the mad statement in headline, and sleeping on the even madder statement that "if we lose, we lose, but you lose by war anyway". You are running to be president of a country that won its independence *in a war*.

Like, you don’t have to be steeped in the ways of Westminster to think that answering “beer, chips and gravy” to a question about your favourite biscuit is just…weird. Like you’re auditioning for a part in The Four Yorkshiremen or something.

www.newstatesman.com/politics/202...
An excerpt from the recent New Statesman interview with Burnham:

“In London, such Burnhamisms – like when he was asked by Mumsnet to name his favourite biscuit and replied “beer, chips and gravy” – tend to be greeted with a smirk, eyebrows raised. Burnham, of course, thinks such mockery only proves how foreign Westminster has become to the rest of the country. To succeed there, you are expected to become Westminster, to inhabit its mannerisms and unwritten rules; to drop your “lads” in favour of the confected formality and politeness of the political class. How wonderful to see you Tom, and all that.”

I think the one of the main issues about Andy Burnham to people outside the North is that he appears to have made the fact that he's a Northerner his *entire* personality.

And I'm sure that works great in the North. Down here? Not so much.

"Backers of the political grouping still inexplicably known as 'Your Party' have now been informed that Direct Debits can instead be set up to the 'Corbyn Alliance Supporters Hub', or *CASH* for short."

The thing to understand about Your Party is that Jeremy knows it's His Party, Zarah thinks it should be Her Party, and Labour is watching the fallout and throwing its own Party.

It would take a heart of stone not to laugh at the spectacular splintering of the Corbyn-Sultana alliance.

I’m not sure anyone should do what Sanchez is doing? His Government is mired in corruption scandals. Doesn’t scream “competence”?

Consider yourself lucky they didn't describe him as "The Hydra guy from the Marvel movies".

My favourite Robert Redford story is the one about why he got rejected for the lead role in The Graduate. RIP to a real one.
An excerpt from an interview with the director of The Graduate, Mike Nichols.

"I interviewed hundreds, maybe thousands of men", Nichols admitted of the casting process per Vanity Fair, before his conversation with Redford turned out to be a short one. "I said, 'You can't play it. You can never play a loser'. And Redford said, 'What do you mean? Of course I can play a loser'. And I said, 'OK, have you ever struck out with a girl'. And he said, 'What do you mean?' And he wasn't joking."

It is exactly 2 months since Danny Kruger MP said that if Reform UK got into power they would "spend money like drunken sailors".

And now he seems to have joined the crew.

hansard.parliament.uk/Commons/2025...
Quote from Hansard, July 15, 2025, Danny Kruger MP:

"Then there is the Reform party, which is sadly absent today. I do quite like the Reform party and I agree with its Members on lots of things, but there is a problem: they would spend money like drunken sailors. I can see what is happening and I am very worried about it—they will end up in an electoral pact with the Liberal Democrats with a joint ticket to protect welfare spending. I do not know how hon. Members feel about the anticipated alliance."

Anyway, what we now really need is Barry Dunning, who is a Conservative County Councillor in Hampshire, to also announce his defection to Reform UK today.

TBH for me the most interesting thing about Danny Kruger is that his Mum presents Bake Off
danielsugarman.bsky.social
According to Reform UK's unwritten "one in, one out" MP rule, the defection of Danny Kruger should mean they'll soon be saying goodbye to either Tice, Anderson or Pochin.

Hasn't been this much mention of "Kruger" among British journalists since the Jameson raid.

This is transparently false: It never takes the worst people on the internet 24 hours to blame a horrific tragedy on a Jewish culprit. More like 24 minutes.

Interesting to see people responding to this by sharing an article in which I said UNRWA should be phased out, as proof that I am evil incarnate. In the article I say the money which would have gone to UNRWA should instead fund other UN agencies helping Gazans, but why bother reading that, huh.

Ironically for someone who must loathe Boris Johnson, Polanski shares one of his most recognisable traits, which is being able to talk with total confidence about things he would appear to know almost nothing about.

This interview with Zack Polanski is fascinating - not because he says anything clever, but because he seems to manage to almost effortlessly antagonise an interviewer whom I assume would have started off quite sympathetic towards him.

t.co/5Lw14wN13N
An excerpt from the interview, reading as follows:

“Antagonism towards migrants comes from poverty,” he says. “There are exceptions. There are people who are racist, and we can have a longer conversation about where that racism comes from, because I believe that probably comes from poverty. I think if you don’t have scarcity in your life, and if you feel safe and secure, why would you hate another person?”

To assert that racism comes from poverty is outrageous, I say, loudly enough that Green Party staff sitting 20ft away start to turn heads.

“Hold on, there are lots of very wealthy people who are also racist,” he begins. So your argument does not work, I say.

“Well, no, it does,” he says, rehashing his argument, before adding that if you are in poverty, “it is very easy to be whipped up by the rich”, and right now, “the super wealthy are utilising working-class resentment and unhappiness with poverty to whip up hate against migrants”.
