Last month The Routledge Handbook of Philosophy of Games, ed. by @add-hawk.bsky.social & John Richard Sageng, was also out! I've got a chapter on the idea of 'beauty' in the aesthetic philosophy of Kant & Schiller and how it applies to play & games, and it's in great company in this huge collection.

As always, the usual note applies: these texts are not open access (booo the academic publishing industry), but those who ask will not be turned away.

I also wrote a piece in the issue about ruins in occupied Palestine - from post-1948 attempts to erase the ruins memorialising centuries of Palestinian presence, to post-2023 (ab)use of images of the ruins of Gaza to foreground, rather than obscure, the violence and cruelty of the Zionist project.

Seriously, the obvious passion that goes into the round-up is infectious, and I always discover some gems I hadn't heard of from these videos.

I look forward to this every year, and I finally found time to watch this! Look what you made me do (complimentary)

I've grown v concerned generally about the reliance of academia - and, well, most other spheres of life - on the whims of US tech companies. The reliance on platforms we can't control, the unchecked data collection, etc. Can't see the current AI in higher ed hype as an ever more far-reaching capture

But you can't make a blanket collective judgment and not leave room for resistance from within the US itself, and/or establish means of support for those who do position themselves against the imperialist order.
