Today I did canvassing for the first time, and I used positive and hopeful language on the doorstep and it really engaged the conversation. Community, togetherness, hope.
People want in.

As a naturally competitive person, I've found the more I collaborate, the more I get the feeling of winning. Put other people forward, include people and you get their strengths so you can focus on your own. Turns out my strength is helping people find their strengths!

Our open days got competitioned into being practically before we even have students in. They used to be late in the year, but over the past 18 they've got earlier and earlier. I need to get the principals in a room together to sort it all out.

I learnt through phonics. My mum was quite backwards looking and taught me to read with Janet and John books from the 50s/ 60s. It was not the fashion at the time but it worked enough for me to able to read. I find it hard linking the physical reading with actually understanding though!

Also we (I mainly) suggested that De Moivre and Newton argued about whether stats or mechanics was better since apparently they were friends. I suggested that it was probably really annoying being at a party with them.

I think they're probably sitting there pretty annoyed or defiant. I was one of those kids. First detention was for maths 😅
