Any student of US history has to be appalled by the shameful bigotry exhibited at the Trump rally at MSG yesterday, which was darkly reminiscent of the infamous 1939 Nazi rally at MSG. Trump is certainly not distancing from the fascist label. It’s now his to wear.

Public schools are microcosms of democracy. Governed by locally elected trustees, they give every child equal access to the gateway to the American Dream, regardless of their parents’ wealth or influence. The attacks on public schools are truly in-American.
