Only just found out that Zohran Mamdani is the son of filmmaker Mira Nair.
I don't know what to do with that information, but OK. What a fun fact.

Not to mention, I'll probably never have to shout at a robo-taxi to "wake up!" as I've had to do a couple of times to drivers who fell asleep, and I'll never catch them scrolling through WeChat videos while driving. And a few minutes later I was almost flattened by two cyclists running a red light.

It's kinda similar to the plot of Sleep Dealer, in which Mexican labourers in warehouses near the border with the US (which has been closed off with a fortified border wall) operate robots that work on construction projects.

Top-loading Ferguson Videostar. My dad borrowed it from work and, come to think of it, maybe never returned it. Maybe "borrowed it from work" was a cover story that I don't want to interrogate...
It had a remote control, too. But it was on a cable.

I don't mind if people find the pacing and outdated values of old films unappealing, but this is just a bizarre ("people don't like seeing what places used to look like!") and presumptuous ("surely nobody wants to see a film with so many *things* in it!") argument:

It's been ages since I've gone near Twitter, but I remember he was a fashy little prick and, on this evidence, still is. Disgusting that Musk is indulging him.
