My point was that ppl who don't understand how code works won't be able to learn (or create) new languages. They won't have the same abilities as a person who understands and could do it from scratch. +

I often see it as a psychosocial buffer to help justify one's professional commitments to prestige fields with controversial histories, uses, systems: you see it in surgeons, medicine too. in entertainment its "we're only giving people what they want"

I think this focus on one's job solely as a set of complex puzzles to solve is common in other industries, like the legal field or entertainment
