My favorite major GOT character is obviously Jaime Lannister, because he's the best one with the best performance and, all things considered, probably best survivor of the writing dip in the back half of the show. Also he's got a great scene with the Blackfish, my GOT GOAT

My favorite minor GAME OF THRONES character is Brynden Tully, The Blackfish. Great dialogue, sick look, total screentime of like 20 minutes but you feel like he's got a whole show just off-screen. I'm shooting for something like this in FLASH GORDON next month, but obviously this is GRRM's whole bag

More of my SPIDER art, featuring (left) the progression of the Master of Men from troubled millionaire to shrieking volunteer Shinigami, and (right) Nita Van Sloan wearing the Spider costume and fully acting the part🕷️

For some reason I'm seeing my art of THE SPIDER doing the rounds — The Spider is of course my favorite pulp hero, being as he is a cackling psycho who dresses like a scary witch to kill gangsters with his girlfriend

I'm realizing I haven't said this explicitly: I have never and will never use generative ai in my personal or professional work. Whether it's Lavender Jack or Iron Rand, love it or hate it, it's all me baby

Digging through my old files in the process of finishing formatting LAVENDER JACK VOL.2, I found this. I think it was a present for my creative director back when I was doing those WB Games/LEGO side gigs? Anyway, enjoy some alt history Edwardian minifigs

Clip Studio Paint! I've been using it pretty much exclusively since 2016 or so. Sometimes I'll still be tweaking the colors or inks after I place the letters, which leads to artifacts like this, but other times I get lucky with a nice clean panel like today's.

Not that I'm an expert, but I really liked QUANTUM AND WOODY (irreverent superhero buddy comedy), THE DEATH-DEFYING DOCTOR MIRAGE (stylish supernatural action-drama), and BRITANNIA (ancient Roman fantasy True Detective)

I've done other variants I DO actually remember, like these WILL EISNER'S THE SPIRIT and GRENDEL: DEVIL'S ODYSSEY covers (both third issues, both written by Matt Wagner, both colored by Brennan Wagner) and this recent one I did for the instant classic STARTLING TALES OF SANTA CLAUS

I saw this Pre-Covid JUGHEAD'S TIME POLICE cover I did and it unlocked these memories of all the old covers I've done and since forgotten. I drew a variant for a Centipede comic? If you say so man

A cold Tuesday bonus: head turnarounds for Doctor Hans Zarkov, who has some pretty fun stuff coming up in this arc. Certain versions have given him more hair, but combover machismo is just such a powerful vibe, I had no choice but to go classic with it.

I'm glad to be bringing back the Shark Men for a while, people really seemed to like them last year. Which makes sense. They're a culture of ripped warrior swimmers who are both sharks and bastards

WEDNESDAY EVENING BONUS: My designs for the dragonman uniforms. At first I played around with a more 70s American GI look (green clothes and gear, etc) but that almost immediately turned into Rogue Trooper, so I pivoted into the dark fantasy Kira vibe instead. It's where they're from, after all.
