...editorial really liked it, said it felt weird that NONE of Batman's regulars were there, and they said I could rewrite and use them as supporting cast throughout the mini.

In the end, I think I lucked out w/ that setup, because it meant ANYTHING could happen to the lead characters in AA:LH.

...originally, I wasn't allowed to use ANY established Bat-villains. DC liked the pitch, but didn't want to overexpose Batman's Rogues Gallery. So my marching order was to avoid all of them and just make up my own and pretend that they'd always been there.

But, after reading the 1st draft...

Out Today:
The re-release of ARKHAM ASYLUM: LIVING HELL Deluxe Edition by me & Ryan Sook.

Quick bit of trivia:
There's actually a reason so many new Bat-villains (like Humpty Dumpty, Jane Doe, and Doodlebug) were created for the original AA:LH mini series. It was because...

Tomorrow DC is re-releasing the ARKHAM ASYLUM: LIVING HELL Deluxe Edition HC by me & Ryan Sook.

22 years ago THIS was the project that broke me out of kid comics and into the super hero side of the biz (where I dreamed of being). It's full of youthful energy & big swings. This was MY origin story.

I'm really sorry, but I can get in trouble if I read posts where fans send me their ideas, because there's an off chance that I might have a similar idea in the works, and their could be problems if a fan ever thought I stole one of their ideas. I hope you understand where I'm coming from.

Writing your ideas and posting them as fanfiction would be great! It sounds like you have tons of ideas & I know Superman fans would love to read them! If I had access to something like the internet and sites where people could post their fanfic when I started writing, I would've been all over that!

Hi. I really do appreciate your passion for these characters, but it puts me in a legally weird position if you keep posting story ideas to me. If you keep doing that you kinda force me to put you on mute as a way to legally protect myself. Just wanted to give you a polite heads up. Sorry.

That was my first laptop too.
It was how I spent my first royalty check.

In 1971, a 30-year-old Neal Adams sat down to crank out a Superman cover for Julie Schwartz. Took him an hour or so. It became one of the most iconic comic book covers of all time. Coming up at Heritage soon. Might be a million dollar piece.

...if I said I didn't miss it sometimes, but I'm 100% honest when I say I would NEVER go back to that. Seriously. It'd KILL me.

The frustrating thing is you can't put any of that in the credits for context. Over time, the work has to stand on its own. You don't get bonus points for the crazy sched.

...but once the trains on the tracks were moving, me & multiple creative teams were getting those issues out 2-to-3 times a month, all plotted out of sequence (so teams could keep drawing), and scripted in sequence.

It's a crazy way to put out a book. It was a crazy time in my life. I'd be lying...

Sometimes the magic ingredient is time.

Silver Surfer #11 was something I worked on, on the side, for many months.
Same for Ren & Stimpy Special #3 (6 months). While still getting out issues before-and-after on a monthly schedule.

There was a LOT of lead time at the start of my ASM run...

Maybe this will be the time that a "reasonable Republican" in Congress will hold the ball still...

Sad to hear about the passing of the Michelangelo of Movie posters, RENATO CASARO. The Man painted so many iconic posters, specially in the 70s/80s: CONAN, TERMINATOR, DUNE, TOTAL RECALL, DANCE WITH THE WOLVES, BLOW OUT, FLASH GORDON, RAMBO, NEVER-ENDING STORY, and the list goes on and on. 1/2

Only Murders In the Building S5E5 at the 28 minute 23 second mark got a big laugh out of me.

I hit the little "Back 10 Sec" button 5 times to watch the gag on a loop. Selena Gomez's timing is perfect.

I believe I'm listed as a guest for New York Comic Con.

I'm not attending. Honest. I currently have no plans to attend the show.

I've done a LOT of shows the past 3 years and I'm taking a break from them for the foreseeable future. Mainly for health reasons. Sorry.
