A screencap of a discord message After writing about how JoyJoy would affect the game, I started thinking about how she'd affect characters. (just in general. I'm not really thinking about games for this one.) - Ultimately, her goal is to turn the world into one big eternal party. She'll assume the party wants to help with that., - She'll constantly try to get the party to celebrate or at the very least smile., - She will suggest "throw a party" as a solution to any problem. (Monsters? Dragons? Armies of the undead? Nothing some festivities couldn't fix.), - She will turn any moment of combat into something more fun to her like a dance contest (which she will rig with her powers)., - She'll definitely pick a favorite. (You might not want to be her favorite. She gets clingy and possessive.), - The adventure will have a soundtrack. No one will be able to tell where it's coming from. JoyJoy will sing along. - She doesn't sleep. So, she's gonna spend the night pestering the party members., - If the party is in a situation in which they need to be stealthy, she will ruin it for them. She hates being quiet. She hates others being quiet., - Weapons and equipment will have silly sound effects, - When the party makes any sort achievement, there will be confetti. (confetti will pop out of any treasure chest they open even if it's a mimic), - She will provide snacks.

After sharing that pixel picture of JoyJoy on a discord server, I wrote a list of things she'd do if she could join the adventuring party in a game. Afterwards, I felt like drawing the last thing on the list.

I had a dream recently in which I was playing a generic 8-bit platformer when the Caretaker suddenly showed up. Since then, I felt like recreating the way she looked in the game.

I haven't done something like this in a long time but wanted to give it a try.
