The 70 billion dollar AI Data Center proposed for Wonder Valley, Alberta, near Sturgeon Lake in a drought stricken area in the territory of the Cree Nation 500 km from Edmonton, would be the world's largest. The proponent is Kevin O'Leary. Gee thanks, you idiot.

“[AI is] not a good knockoff. The ultimate goal is never to be as good as the art — the goal is to be good enough to get on the page, get the consumer to use it, and get rid of the worker.” —Molly Crabapple, artist

Johnson refused to swear in the Congressional candidate prior to shut down, since doing so could have forced a majority vote on the release of Epstein files

"Speaker Mike Johnson’s abrupt closure of the House may have more to do with stalling a congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation than previously reported, and appears to have been a direct response to the Treasury’s surrender of Epstein’s financial records."
SCOOP: Johnson closed House hours after Congress received Epstein’s financial records
The decision to shut down the House — and by extension the government — came hours after the Oversight Committee received documents from the US Treasury.

Overton window, Tom. Living with less is never going to have popular appeal; entitlement the driver of ecological collapse. Academic studies will have little impact on slowing the Death Race. Rapid structural changes need radical action to survive the bottleneck of so called civilization.

I admit I found the paper a very dull read - about as enthralling as discussing SDGs at the COP - lip service without implementation. Still, I shared it because the chart incorporates overshoot, which is refreshing given the popularity of the 'doughnut' model. Does it have legs?
