Still my theory that this is what happened to BioShock 4. It was delayed because of its story, and the only way I can imagine a studio executive making that move is if they think it'll get them in trouble with the administration because artists made something critical of fascism.

Devil May Cry Director Hideaki Itsuno says he designed DMC5’s pacing with potato chips in mind!

He designed scenarios so players know when they can take a potato chip break. He wanted to make it clear when a cutscene was coming & give enough time to take a small break to eat some potato chips!

It also took out awards for Excellence in Art, Narrative, and Sound Design.

I made a post about it at the time but basically it was a very small orchestra with very little instrumental variety (most the instruments and vocals were pre-recorded), very boring visuals, and no recognition of any of PlayStation's pre-PS4 history outside of Journey (the best part) and Uncharted.
