Well isn't this what American's voted for? That mass deportation won't do itself, after all.
darinnajem.bsky.social
Exactly. My "favourite" are "nobody asked for this" comments.

Every time I see it under Starfleet Academy post, I'm like "oh I did ask for this and have been asking for 20 years, so tyvm bu you don't speak for me".

However much I'd love to see this little Goebbels parody get tried fro treason... I don't see how anything he did so far corresponds to treason as defined by US laws. It's just... nobody ever made measures for this kind of takeover and there is little that can legally be done against it.

That looked more like a stroke than a technical issue.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

Right wing and legacy media have not addressed this, just as they ignored the political execution in Wisconsin of Melissa Hortman and her spouse. But if a republican gets a pimple, it's international news.

Actually I can say something similar about #SNW series of novels, that includes the exact same authors. I really liked each one of them, Asylum was a great backstory for Una, reading Toward the Night felt like watching actual SNW TV episode. But JJM wrote the best one by far, The High Country.

You mean Last Best Hope? I agree it was great, also vital context for the first season of PIC. I also read Dark Veil and Firewall, again great reading in each case. But my absolute favourite were Rogue Elements by @farawaypress.com. It was so well written and so enjoyable like nothing else.

So far none of the novels inspired by Picard TV series disappointed and at least one was masterpiece, so I'm definitely not missing the next one either.

This is bad. We've seen at the border—while Biden was still president (and his administration did nothing)—what the Texas National Guard does to peaceful crowds and defenseless migrants.

This, and much more, is from us in September 2024: www.wola.org/analysis/sol...
Hope Border Institute, an El Paso-based Catholic organization that maintains a health clinic in Ciudad Juárez, reported the following treatments of Operation Lone Star-related injuries in May and June 2024:
Eight people, including three children, with razor wire and concertina wire cuts.
25 people, mostly men, injured by pepper and gas balls and rubber bullets shot by the Texas National Guard.
Two mothers and two children with intense psychological and emotional trauma after being separated from other family members at the Texas razor wire line.
In February 2024, journalists reported Texas National Guard soldiers pushing migrants, including a woman with a baby, back across the Mexican border near El Paso while shouting profanities. When journalists recorded the incidents, guards changed their behavior but pointed lasers at journalists and their equipment.
In a video published on October 3, 2023 by Al Jazeera, a Texas National Guard member in El Paso was seen standing over a prone man struggling to pass under concertina wire. The guard member taunted and abused the man, saying, “I have no mercy, animals” and stomping on the man’s hands.
In July 2023 CBS News published an email from a Texas State trooper to his superiors in Eagle Pass, detailing several disturbing situations including the trooper finding a group of migrants, including children and nursing babies, camped along the U.S.-Mexico fence line and his shift officer ordered them to “push the people back into the water to go to Mexico.” The email describes many migrants injured by the concertina wire, a woman suffering a miscarriage while tangled in the wire, and Texas troops’ denial of water to migrants, including children, in 100-degree heat.

Um, what? They've been helping ICE this entire time.
darinnajem.bsky.social
Californian national guard members already had one chance to refuse their (illegal) orders or resign. If they go along with following illegal order, again, and letting themselves to be used as support for ICE operations, then they are lost.

There is always a choice.

Houbyfest? Interesting. I never heard of it. Is there a large population of Czech/Slovak community in Cicero? Are those being targetted by ICE along with latino residents?

Why would she apologize for calling a transphobe a transphobe and racist a racist. Did we really fell so low that people feel they need to apologize for even calling out their bullies?

🚨 It's time to talk about about DHS's surveillance apparatus.

For a few months, I've tracked ICE contracts for a map of companies supporting the mass deportation agenda. Huge sums for detention, weapons, and—especially alarming—an array of tech for spying on immigrants and citizens alike.

No, it won't be as bad. Babiš is under influence from Kremlin, but not as strong as Fico. Also it is in the interest of his own wealth to remain friendly with EU. He just feigns euro-scepticism to fool his pro-russian voters. Also, there will be a strong opposition to balance his politics.
darinnajem.bsky.social
Exactly, they collaborated with russian occupant forces once and some are eager to do so again, but that did not decide these elections. This was basically exactly the same as recently in US. An oligarch promised them eternal prosperity and chasing out evil immigrants. And they fell for it.

Oh I believe it! There definitely are fake account here too. And people with pets on profile pics that follow you in hope you'd follow back. And russian trolls as well, but since reporting them actually works, unlike on Twitter where they seem to intentionally breed them, there aren't very numerous.
