Europe's security and economic outlook threatened and the euro and pound are... stronger today.

Markets care more about the "chipping away" at credibility of dollar assets, say investors, particularly in a region that owns an awful lot.

Even from a purely theatrical perspective, Starmer's tribute to Badenoch for offering cross-party support would have carried more weight if Conservative MPs had been there to cheer it.

There was a missed opportunity here to speak with the authority of Parliament, not just of a single embattled PM.
