The view from the Quislings in the UK

Republicans in 🇺🇸Congress are warning that if any European government takes action against X, the leaders and their citizens will face US sanctions.

This is no joke. As I write in my new book www.TheOwnedContinent.eu, 🇺🇸 can shut down entire European economies overnight through sanctions.

So Bardella will censure the Commission for not giving France special treatment?

French MEPs threaten to introduce a motion of censure if they don't like the outcome of a democratic vote.

The #Mercosur FTA between 🇪🇺 & South America looks set to pass a vote tomorrow now that it has Italy's backing. 🇫🇷🇵🇱 will be outvoted.

🇫🇷Macron has a tough choice to make. Will he...

-Take the politically easy route by voting no so he can tell French farmers he tried to kill it but was outvoted, or...

It is telling that the UK is apparently not involved in these 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇵🇱 talks on how to deter the US from invading Greenland.

I am on the hunt for a publisher to do a translated version of The Owned Continent in French.

If anyone has any contacts in the French publishing world, let me know!
January 8, 2026 at 12:32 PM
The Owned Continent is now the number 1 new release for books on European politics in the United States.
www.amazon.com/gp/new-relea...

I'm honoured but also I'm disappointed with the low sales in France so far. This book was meant for Europeans, not Americans! Great sales in Germany though.
January 8, 2026 at 12:32 PM
I therefore have some sympathy with the pathetic situation Macron is in now. He tried to make Europe free, but the people of Europe weren't interested. They kept voting for Atlanticists & nationalists and have made him a powerless lame duck.

I'm sure he thinks he has no other choice as a result.

Our leaders in Europe are in complete denial of reality.

They are living in another world.
January 7, 2026 at 6:10 PM
The past days have made it clear: the only way Europe can avoid becoming subjugated vassal states to America, Russia & China is to unite in federation.

That our leaders have spent the past 2 decades blocking efforts to do so will be remembered as a tragedy.

Joint statement just released by 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇮🇹🇪🇸🇬🇧🇵🇱🇩🇰

It insists that it is only for 🇩🇰🇬🇱 to decide Greenland's future. It says 🇺🇸 should respect "sovereignty, territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders" in the Arctic.

But it does not say what they will do if 🇺🇸 doesn't.

This 🇪🇺Commission briefing is so embarrassing.

They are pretending that they are in "close contact" with the US government about what is happening in Venezuela when it is obvious that no such contacts are happening.
January 5, 2026 at 11:41 AM
If Russia invades Germany and kidnaps Chancellor Merz, I guess the EU response will be:

"The legal assessment of the Russian intervention is complex and requires careful consideration. International law remains the guiding framework."

Contrast the joint statement from countries in Europe with the joint statement by countries in South America.

Ask yourself - which is the free continent, and which is the owned continent?
January 4, 2026 at 8:37 PM
It is incredibly embarrassing for this continent that Sanchez has to join a group of Latin American leaders in issuing a statement of condemnation for the US invasion, because no other leader in Europe will join him in criticising 🇺🇸.
January 4, 2026 at 5:21 PM
Senator Bernie Sanders calls on the democratic world (Europe) to condemn Trump's "rank imperialism".

But his words have fallen on deaf ears here in Europe, where our leaders have been too scared to criticise the US invasion of Venezuela.
January 4, 2026 at 2:17 AM
From the wife of the White House Deputy Chief of Staff.

Europe, don't say you weren't warned.
January 3, 2026 at 10:53 PM
A reminder: it doesn't have to be this way.

Mexico has a hell of a lot more to lose than Europe by angering Trump. Yet this is the response of its president just now.

This isn't a global phenomenon. Why have Europeans proven to be so uniquely cowardly over the past year?
January 3, 2026 at 8:09 PM
And here it is.

Starmer's post-press-conference statement manages to be even more cowardly than his initial response.

Vague call for international law to be respected. Ignores that it has *already been violated* this morning. No mention of US.
January 3, 2026 at 8:07 PM
🇮🇹PM Meloni sounds same as Macron, Starmer & Merz in giving stamp of approval to 🇺🇸invasion of Venezuela (though she's going extra step pretending she believes absurd claim that this is about drug trafficking)

Throughout Europe, only opposition figures are criticising 🇺🇸. Anyone in power is too scared
January 3, 2026 at 7:59 PM
OK we can see the way this is going. Sanchez is out in the political wilderness again in his wilingness to criticise Trump.

Germany's chancellor apparently watched that press conference and decided it's "complex and requires careful consideration".

They're all falling into line.
January 3, 2026 at 7:30 PM
Contrast the reaction to the 🇺🇸Venezuela invasion of France's far-right opposition leader vs its sitting centrist president.

It's really incredible. No sitting European leader dares to criticise Trump.

Le Pen is being politically much smarter than Macron.
January 3, 2026 at 7:25 PM
Even after watching Trump's press conference openly admitting 🇺🇸has invaded Venezuela in order to run it and take its oil, 🇫🇷President Macron has released a statement appearing to endorse US actions (as opposed to Le Pen who condemned 🇺🇸invasion).

Where does this leave Europe's credibility on Ukraine?
January 3, 2026 at 7:15 PM
Spain's PM Pedro Sanchez is 1st European leader to make a stronger statement following Trump's press conference where he said the US will run Venezuela and take its oil.

Sanchez has been ostracised by other 🇪🇺 leaders for his past criticism of Trump. Will they listen to him now?
January 3, 2026 at 7:01 PM
🇬🇧PM Keir #Starmer said he would wait for the press conference to respond to the Venezuela invasion.

In that presser Trump announced the US will be running Venezuela, most likely with a military occupation, in order to extract its oil.

Over to you Keir...
