Everyone has given their view on the #StrangerThings finale
My take, I loved it. I loved the series, the 80s nostalgia felt aimed at me.
Did it do everything I wanted it to, no. Am I fixated on everything being as I want it to be, no
As far as I'm concerned Eleven lives in Mikes mind & that's enough

My cinema year.
Massive caveat, that the tiering is very much based on my enjoyment of the film, not the film's quality.

As we approach the end of the year, cinema trips so far this year is looking pretty impressive. Some great, some good and some I will never, ever, watch again (Mama Mia was under duress...honest!).

And now we are well into Halloween season, with a somewhat excessive 6-film weekend, 3 new ones alongside 3 re-showings of old horror classics (some more classic than others).

First up, the new ones, #AfterTheHunt, #GoodFortune and #BlackPhone2.

Four up last weekend, with a couple of new ones and a couple of classics.

First up, a Friday night double bill of #BreakfastClub & #CaughtStealing.

Breakfast Club i part of the psyche, which I know the story, but I honestly do not believe I have ever watched. Now I have, & it's ok, but dated.

Two more. Ahead of it's long awaited sequel, #ThisIsSpinalTap was back in the cinema. It has literally been decades since I last watched it, and it's still as mad as remembered.

Then a mystery showing, which turned out to be #ToxicAvenger, which was fantastic.

A Saturday double bill.

First up #LifeOfChuck. I managed to go in to this one blind, no idea of what genre it was, let alone the synopsis. I still don't know what genre I would put is under, but if you can go and see it, and try and see it without knowing what it's about. It is truly wonderful.

Weekend double bill of #Together & #TheMaterialist

Oddly enough, they went nicely together (pardon the Together' pun) with them both focusing on love.

Slightly different doublebill this weekend, #Weapons & Secret Cinema's latest offering #Grease

Weapons has got a fair amount of critical & (from initial estimates) commercial success. And it is a good, voodoo, based film with some good jump scares. Worth your time, maybe not as good as made out

40th anniversary showing of #Goonies at the local #Omniplex.

Great to be able to see it on the big screen, the story remains a joy, and whilst it's one I've seen probably a dozen times, seeing it in the big screen meant I watched it without distraction for probably the first time in 35 years.

Next up, Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou's #BringHerBack.

One of the best horrors of the year. Disturbing, gripping and a story where you don't know whether anyone's safe.

But the highlight is the acting.

Marvel's first family join the MCU with #FantasicFourFirstSteps &.... it works.

The 60s aesthetic & the robot sidekick lowered my expectations. The multiple montages was a brave choice.

Only a brief mention of the origin story (as with #Superman, the film knows that most of already know it).

Pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed #Superman.

Right decision to skip yet another origin story and head straight to the action. Casting and script spot on, Lois & Superman having good chemistry and a Lex that worked.

And a Supergirl/Krypto spin off is the sequel I never knew I needed.

Next up #JurassicParkRebirth.

I do like the JP franchise, I really do, but the decision making capability of any of the characters in it leaves so much to be desired

No one has each other's back, no one is ever keeping watch & unbelievable escapes are everywhere

That said, it is visually stunning

Ok, short one this time, #F1TheMovie.

Sorry, but completely predictable and wasn't gripped at all.

But, apparently, I'm in the minority, with it currently enjoying a 83%/97% Rotten Tomatoes score. I don't get it.

Two films in the last week, a rescreening of #28WeeksLater, ahead of the long time coming, #28YearsLater.

Frustratingly, ended up watching 'weeks' 31 days after the rescreening of #28DaysLater...

Thanks for showing them again #Omniplex, but surely missed an obvious opportunity here.

Just the one film this weekend, #HowToTrainYourDragon ...and I've got to say, exceeded expectations at all levels.

Enjoyed the original, which was watched with my kids, and this one nailed the casting and the tone.

These live action remakes take a lot of stick, but this was a really enjoyable 2hrs

Three up this weekend.

#Ballerina does what it says on the tin. It's from the John Wick world, and is a John Wick film. If you like them, you'll like this, if you don't there's nothing for you
