Oof, what if we did good things for people instead?

Read a book.

Heck, he can do one better and hire a dev to build a city comms app to deliver any important announcements to residents. That in addition to bluesky would be way better than staying on the CSAM factory.

Why would anyone vote for the "nothing can be done, aktually" party?

That's the point.

Their job is to make people WANT to vote for them!

Instead they wring their hands, hang their heads, vote for the cabinet, vote against "the evils of socialism", and give in the literal moment they had leverage

I mean, Dems are probably really busy writing about how bad Maduro was and how they agree with Trump that socialism is the most evil thing in the history of humanity.

Good thing they have so many folks willing to point out that they don't hold direct power in any branch. We'd have forgotten.

Nothing in politics is "non-performative"

Doing nothing is also performative.

This is a stupid, unserious test to put forward.

Don't need a civil war when the opposition party just rolls over

I think it's time to stop taking this mythology of "co-equal" at face value.

There's actually nothing in the constitution that states such a thing, and there is much external context to suggest congress should be thought of as the most powerful of the 3.

We need to bring THAT idea back.

Just tie compliance with the wealth tax to the state's licensing for the corp to do business in the state.

They can literally just quote POTUS

Evolution actually means adaptation to changing material conditions.

Inability to adapt to change means an end to an evolutionary branch.
January 5, 2026 at 4:54 PM
One you de-tangle Great Man Theory from actual history, you can do the same for smaller scopes like "tech evolution" and see it's all nonsense myth making.
January 5, 2026 at 4:53 PM
Yes, it's this urge to naturalize the process to both put space between people and culpability, and push an inevitability narrative

It's not people with addresses doing things, it's "evolving"

Technology is not and has never been neutral. Anyone who tells you this is an idiot or trying to sell you

Hard to make the case that this is special given that the US has been in a constant state of war leading up to now, yet the last declaration by congress was nearly 100 years ago.

The invitation has been an open one.
January 4, 2026 at 8:45 PM
That'd be the normal route, yeah.

But these guys know their time is short. They either need to complete the coup of the US by midterms or they're all going to prison (in their heads; in reality Dems will do fuck all).

They're gonna be far more erratic than we'd predict.

All he has to do is claim Russia is going to do it if the US doesn't. Russia may even feint that way in support.

He'd love nothing more than to give EU over to Putin, with Putin leaving the Americas to him.

Spheres of influence is where we're heading. Rules-based Order is dead and left unburied.

No, we had to endure overt lie after over lie while they ostensibly followed the constitution that they've now completely snuffed out and thrown in the trunk of a car.

We could pretend, back then.

Somehow people still are today.
