The biggest change higher education over the past decade+ has been the growth of the professional "Higher Education Administrator"- administrators now have backgrounds in business or degrees in "Leadership" instead of rising through traditional faculty positions

Result: less value on academics

If I am correct this is about AI, I add that I can’t take an industry (or greater corporate economy) seriously when the true use case they think will happen is “I can lay off all employees and no longer have to have payroll!” while still thinking “our customers will have money to spend!”

a) Video games have not replaced books despite dire predictions that are now FIFTY YEARS old.

b) If anybody in publishing believes that reading is any less intersectional than before, they have never been to a public library or looked at the numbers for the audiobook boom (double digit growth YOY)
