Just pointing out that the same people who pushed for "return to office" for the "culture and collaboration" are now promoting AI tools that increasingly isolate employees.

No more work besties in our AI future, no matter where we are located.
AI is making the workplace lonelier

When the streets start telling the truth, it’s because the institutions won’t.

What’s become painfully obvious is that ICE agents aren’t trained to make us safer. They’re just recruits who thirst for power, violence, and cruelty.

It's been over three weeks and they still haven't released the Epstein files because withholding exculpatory evidence is clearly what you do when you're "innocent."

People keep wondering why they're going after Venezuela. It's because they want to do regime change and control its oil, then use a big tract of land there to keep a tax free "network state" that looks like Dubai but operates like Rhodesia. They are saying this out loud! Believe them!

EXCLUSIVE: We found that Instacart is using AI algorithms to charge customers different prices for the same items.

It's not just online. It's in physical grocery stores too.

Our months-long investigation with @consumerreports.org and @groundwork.bsky.social found it could cost families $1200/year.

The biggest change higher education over the past decade+ has been the growth of the professional "Higher Education Administrator"- administrators now have backgrounds in business or degrees in "Leadership" instead of rising through traditional faculty positions

Result: less value on academics

The customer model presupposes they have complete preferences across all options already & are fully informed.

But education is premised upon NOT KNOWING a bunch of stuff! Students are served when new horizons are opened for them. Will every attempt work? No. But the world's impoverished without it
This is actually a good example of why the customer model is wrong.

I wouldn't have chosen poetry writing, but UNC made me take a class. And it absolutely made me become a much better writer, with an eye to concision and an ear now trained to the rhythm of words. I'm a better historian as a result.
If you are providing me with an education that is low utility in the world then it’s a disservice. My composition class spent four weeks on poetry. I’m sorry, but that only would’ve been useful if I wanted to be a poet. I don’t need to know iambic pentameter in order to be a victim advocate.

If I am correct this is about AI, I add that I can’t take an industry (or greater corporate economy) seriously when the true use case they think will happen is “I can lay off all employees and no longer have to have payroll!” while still thinking “our customers will have money to spend!”

The depressing part is that Netflix winning would be objectively terrible for viewers and society and yet somehow a successful Paramount bid would be far more terrible
this pretty much guarantees months and months of performative bullshit by Trump and Ellison and right wing media about how Netflix ownership would be a woke antitrust nightmare, but letting Larry and his nepobaby son dominate U.S. media would be a delightful, populist spritzer
It’s a Bidding War: Paramount Attempts Hostile Offer for Warner Bros.
David Ellison calls Netflix's $82.7 billion deal value an "inferior proposal" and tells Warners shareholders that his coalition promises $18 billion more in cash.
