I'm Russ Vought's worst nightmare: a bisexual, atheist, childless, feminist, who organized 3 abortion marches-

& can never be CONVERTED.

AOC is Stephen Miller's worst nightmare: a powerful Latina, who speaks truth, & has influence

& can never be DEPORTED.

Be sand in their gears. BE UNGOVERNABLE.

James Carville, in his NYT Op-ed, says it's time for Democrats to "embrace a sweeping, aggressive, unvarnished, unapologetic, and altogether unmistakable platform of pure economic rage. The most populist platform since the Great Depression."

I can dig it.

Resistance. Reformation. Revolution.

๐Ÿงต There are many people on the internet right now claiming that FDR was a socialist.

No. He was a pro-labor president. Which means he was pro-union & pro-welfare. Within capitalism.

His enemies accused him of being socialist to denigrate his cause.

But Socialism & Unions are not the same systems.

Yes, the thread mentions FDR.

I think she did. She often complimented him & said, but there's more work to be done.

That's why she wanted to cap insulin for everybody. Why she wanted to build more homes & give a credit to first-time buyers.

But there's a platform available now that wasn't there before. Trump's easy to follow.
November 25, 2025 at 8:41 AM
I think unions & labor have been siloed into factory-esque, construction, or physical labor jobs.

Most people don't consider themselves the "working class."

But we are - if we're not living on passive income or residual income.

There just needs to be a shift in the language to recognize it.
November 25, 2025 at 3:54 AM
Beyond Carville.

Just thinking that the political needs have changed so much and it's time for a shift in political messaging.

And that messaging is going to have to be unapologetically anti-billionaire.

We're going to have to bring back Elizabeth Warren's "billionaire's tears" mug.

Ken Martin actually told Jon Stewart a couple months back that economics was the underpinning of all Americans.

Inequality IS oppression.

Maybe that's how Trump stole some of those voters.

He appealed to their economic frustrations, rather than their social frustrations.
November 25, 2025 at 3:25 AM
Carville aside -

I think there's some merit to shifting to economic issues for minorities.

To say we have a platform that "helps minorities" is all well & good

- But economic stability is an important value for all Americans, regardless of color or sex.

Carville didn't come up with this first.

100% Jon Stewart had a great clip on bailouts.

It was a 10 minute clip so a lot is cropped out but a Republican claimed that "Socialism picked winners & losers" and Jon Stewart claimed that this is exactly what bailouts do.
At the same time that corporate propaganda has taught us to hate being a recipient of social programs, it turns out corporations love NOTHING MORE than being a recipient of federal bailouts & subsidies.

They call it socialism when it benefits the People & Capitalism when it benefits themselves.๐Ÿงต

That doesn't explain why a social democracy isn't sufficient reform.

Meanwhile, every country who has implemented "socialism" has created state owned media which is then corrupted by a single tyrant.

Socialism has 0% success rate in creating fair and honest media.

The Social Democracies have done better than the Socialist countries.
November 25, 2025 at 1:47 AM
I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that Denmark or Sweden have rich oligarchs controlling the media.

As you can see below, 3 Nordic countries rank most transparent & least corrupt for Tranparency International's "Corruption Perceptions Index."

Social Democracy is capitalism. So that means it's possible to create a capitalism that leans on welfare and reins in greed.

Despite the fact that Denmark taxes corporations, has strong unions, universal healthcare, & other welfare programs...

Then why can't we be Denmark?

We'd be a prime example of the free market!

๐Ÿงต There are 100 economic reforms that we could make between us and socialism.

Reforms which most European countries already have within their capitalistic systems.

Socialism isn't OUR answer. It's an opposite extreme that isn't necessary.

There ARE still counterbalances to regulate capitalism.
November 25, 2025 at 12:18 AM
๐Ÿงต This is why they attacked FDR with the claim that he was a socialist. They created a complete propaganda of extremes. Claiming that ANYBODY trying to keep capitalism balanced, fair, & transparent was an extreme communist.

When FDR was a necessary counterbalance to maintain a healthy capitalism.
November 25, 2025 at 12:18 AM
๐Ÿงต Truth is: monopolies destroy free market capitalism - NOT welfare programs, & itโ€™s why anti-trust laws are so vital in managing a healthy system.

American Corporations have created a corrupt & imbalanced capitalism that defeats its own values & creates a feudal-like system of land owners & serfs.

๐Ÿงต Denmark is a Social Democracy or Welfare State.

It ranks 7th on the Heritage Foundation's scale of free market capitalism. Out of 184 countries!

The U.S. ranks 27th. Yet Denmark is a social democracy.

When the govt puts power into Unions to regulate capitalism, it doesnโ€™t have to interfere.
November 25, 2025 at 12:18 AM
๐Ÿงต In Europe, they have very strong union rights which allow workers to have organized leverage against their employers.

This means the government doesn't have to regulate the companies as much because the unions have so much power.

The problem? America has fewer Unions today than the FDR era.
November 25, 2025 at 12:18 AM
๐Ÿงต In contrast, Socialism means the workers own & share profits from their factories.

A co-op is an example of a socialist system, in which all employees have stake in the company & have a Democratic voice in the decisions the company makes.

A union is not socialist, it's necessary in capitalism.
