Possible (unlikely, I’d say) that Witkoff’s assessment is correct. But is that a risk he personally would take if he lived in Poland or Estonia let alone western Ukraine? And if he’s wrong, wider European conflict results with dire consequences for the US.

An understandable dilemma. I don’t know this sector, but wondering if, hypothetically, non-US resident scientists stayed away, might before long competitor conferences be arranged outside the US? Over time undercutting the value of the US-based events?

Why would anyone actually want to go to the US for the foreseeable future? Might need to visit for work or family reasons, but otherwise consciously to choose to visit? Nope, don’t get that.

It’s remorseless. Every day I wake hoping not to be outraged by Trump. Disappointed again. But now I am determined not knowingly to buy US goods or services where a viable alternative exists. But can we avoid Microsoft & Google? X ditched ages ago. Signal for WhatsApp. But word processing? Anyone?

Norway’s civil defence recommends every household has basics for a week, including stored water, food, cooking capability (eg camping stove), heat source, light (candles, torches, batteries) and a radio which works on batteries. Many take this seriously.
