Hayles was still pitching spec storylines for another two years before he probably took the hint.

The commissioning for Tom's first season [and some of the second] takes place around April to July 1974.

Holmes was probably doing final polishing and amendments on Spiders and Robot in early 1974.

'Death' was named in July 1973, before Holmes arrived.

Dicks edited Mobster of Peladon. The usual major rewrite of Brian Hayles' scripts...

Of course, Dicks already had one foot out of the door by then. So may not have been able to give it his usual 'remove the bollocksness' of it.

Also, interesting chat about a boy in the fella's street who had two dad's in the 1960s - it was because they were catholic and the first husband was missing in action, the wife remarried, then the husband resurfaced. They all lived together in a flat and got on really well. Anyone heard similar?
