I guess that as we know every MP's primary concern is to get re-elected, the idea that they would voluntarily consider the idea of giving up their seat should they jump ship (aka democracy) is completely ridiculous.

Reminds me of Madonna's 'Like a Prayer' Pepsi ad. There was this build up for a week, full page ads in the paper, teasers on tv, all advertising an advert. Then I sat there with my fingers on the VHS's play button.
