Good morning! Sorry so few updates, but this part is boring. I'm slowly removing Bermuda grass for my new batch of native plant seedlings, and it's taking forever. About two-thirds of my first batch of seeds are sprouting, so I need to hurry. 🌱
The area in the middle of the backyard I am clearing of grass. I'm just about halfway there. YES I AM, THAT IS TOTALLY HALFWAY THERE! A trench in the soil with a slice of soil sitting on a shovel with a tub full of Bermuda grass rhizomes and other weeds. I separate the soil and worms from the rhizomes by hand. I am too old for this kind of work. Frankie the husky standing next to a doggie pool full of plastic jugs with the tops cut off, each full of soil and seeds. He is sick of these seeds and wants to go somewhere. You might think he would stay out of this pool, what with all the sharp edges, but sadly, no. A plastic kitty litter container with potting mix and a large footprint in the middle of it. He did this a few weeks ago, but the seeds in it are sprouting now. Knocked a few containers over while he was at it.
