I've seen vendors move to other terms for actually useful automation and trained recognizers. Last month I got "it's our own custom image comparison model, no generative AI in the system."

yes. And it has a Christian meaning to him. I could get into broader resentments here, but let's take the agreement on it not being a Christmas hymn and move on for now.

Being written by Jews and having nothing to do with Christmas, this is as an "ultra devout Christmas hymn" as row row row your boat.

This wasn't an "eh, this feels iffy" kind of thing where officers up the chain merely discuss the legalities. This is the kind of unlawful order where everyone down to the lowest enlisted has an absolute on-the-spot duty to say "hell no, I won't do that" because it's manifestly, facially criminal.

They're bogus but you can at least rationalize quasi-legalistic grounds for using military force against cartels, that they're a kind of combatant enemy. But killing people who are desperately clinging to wreckage in the open ocean is everywhere and always stone cold, undeniable, zero excuse murder.

Shift from “there may be some classified or legal framework that could potentially be a viable excuse for the use of force if it won in court” to “oh this is the Ur war crime, like so clearly a war crime that there is no legal cover for this specific order”.

two immediate thoughts: I am struck by how this low budget martial arts film looks better than half the shit in theaters these days. also, shoutout to a movie that takes for granted that neo-nazis are evil.

And I only felt good in the one I played a caster. Just like 2 and 3/.5.

There's a reason that in both got-to-epic 3/.5 campaigns I was in (played one, ran one) every single character had caster levels.

Oh conversion is almost always never worth it. Just 3->3.5 nearly killed our campaign that had started on 3e launch day (DM had to houserule us to 3.4 or so to let certain characters keep defining shticks or ruining a nemesis).

I played in two 5e campaigns, both with EXCELLENT DMs

At-will/encounter/daily. 4e, basically.

I just wish it explained better how dynamic and active the stress/advantage economy should be in play. Stress is MP!

What I really wanted and prefer, of course, turned out to be Genesys, which bakes in multi-axis degrees of success into every roll and has a fairly well-balanced system for "spending" those degrees narratively or mechanically as you want each time.

Gonna disagree with you here -- indeed, I would argue that 4e better supported more roleplaying, both explicitly and implicitly. Exhibit A: the strong encouragement of reskinning. Ex B: inherent bonuses. Ex C: paragon paths and epic destinies.

They don't want to. It's the brand!
