The book that may have been the first, great cyberpunk novel. Still great today

and if we're not careful, at some point a Palace player will time that run in behind and finish it 😬

I do sometimes wonder if we need a re-think on it all. We forget that the prime reason for doping rules originally wasn't about 'cheating', it was protecting the athletes from doing things which are dangerous to them in trying to win at all costs. It was about preventing tragedies like Tom Simpson

over the years test have improved but also they added out of competition testing, the where-abouts rule, retrospective testing, the biological passport etc. Each a big step forward and sadly in each case, the cheats eventually find ways round them. And so new tools are needed and the fight goes on

20th book of the year

Another discworld book, the 18th in the series. Struggled a bit with this, found the plot a bit more confused than usual from Pratchett
