I like to use the little grey cells. I have a philosophy degree and work in tech. Interested in ontology, science, ethics, reason, society, and the future. I'm a liberal cosmopolitan who defends democracy and the rule of law.
People really need to stop referring to tyrants and authoritarians as "strongmen." I know it's literally the title of your book, but it's a terrible strategic communication choice for pro-liberal democracy advocacy. It's buying into their chosen framing and basically giving them a tacit compliment.

Who do you personally find to be the greatest exemplars of philosophical clarity?

Thus we have these self-reinforcing anti-reality bubbles, networks of people sharing and resharing claims ultimately untethered from reality. And of course, a well-functioning democracy requires a population that is significantly in epistemic contact with reality. 5/

Combine this with social media algorithms that favor engagement over all else, and you have a recipe for viral misinformation on a global scale. People readily engage with posts that trigger their confirmation bias, myside bias, and their outrage, whether the claims have any merit whatever 4/

...that anyone's take on some issue can go viral and reach millions, regardless of whether the person has any relevant expertise, or whether the argument is well reasoned and the premises are based in fact, whether the author has done their due diligence checking these facts, etc. 3/

There were plenty of problems with the former exclusive approach, which prevented valuable perspectives from being heard, and some democratization of the information ecosystem was no doubt a good thing. The problem is that social media has lowered the barrier to entry to such a degree 2/
