I found this recipe that uses blood oranges. I would be tempted to give it a go if I didn’t have enough Seville oranges for two more batches!

This is really interesting. It shows me how my pattern of followers / following is quite different to the people I interact with on here. And it looks like @janetrad.bsky.social is trying to edge away from the Wine Industry Professionals altogether!

I would gladly give you a couple of jars if you were in London. For this kind of marmalade, you need Seville oranges, which are high acid, thick-skinned and in season now. I started with a Nigel Slater recipe and through trial and error this is my current method. It’s fiddly but worth it!

Pretty, pretty good.

When life gives you oranges…

My big sis @juliaround.bsky.social went to the States to make her fortune when I was about 14. Now she’s not only back for good but moving into a flat in the next street to us! We’re so happy to have her and her gorgeous dog Logo in Brixton.

At weekends, when I’m not being a digital wine marketer or a cantankerous git on BlueSky, I help my more successful partner with her family rave business. Today had an animal theme, hence the whiskers. I just wish one of my family had reminded me before I went to the shops for ingredients tonight.

Gordon’s Gin at £19.50 includes £11.00 of UK taxes (duty and the VAT on that duty) and a retailer’s margin on that duty. Gordon’s Alcohol Free at £15.50 doesn’t have any of those costs. That’s a huge difference in margin and an impressive trick to pull off.

My 14 year-old son, a beautiful soul but disorganised boy, keeps picking up detentions for not handing in homework on time. I have started to call him the Cooler King. He seems unimpressed with my parenting approach. He may have a point.

Always put your name on the label.

This is refined and beautifully balanced. A friend from Hampshire came to stay and said it was her local wine. I love that now you can live in southern England and possibly have world class wine produced in the next village. (Also available from The Wine Society if you don’t live near Alresford)

I’m not sure what more you want him to do. Call him out for a fight? Call him rude names?

It’s really good to see the change in messaging from the Tories this week. There won’t be a right wing alliance as long as Badenoch is leader, which would make a catastrophic Reform government less likely. Here’s hoping.

Yes, my penultimate tweet tagged a load of wine publishers most of whom promptly set up Bluesky accounts and started posting. Sadly, most producers didn’t follow them. Hopefully you can help encourage a new wave. Well done for doing this, but you do have to cut the cord at some point…

It’s been really bleakly cold and stormy in London and I realise that as a result I haven’t been taking photos. Here’s my most recent outdoor pic, from the bus on the way home after frog-marching everyone on a 5 mile walk from Brixton to Chinatown for lunch last weekend.

Very good.

I’m on a bit of a Seyssuel thing this Christmas. This one is dense, earthy and structured, with a vanilla, chocolate and creamy overlay. Seems a bit backward and quite bold in its oakiness. I think the Sotanum is much more my style, but it’s really good nonetheless.

Here’s a gorgeous Seyssuel. Really pure aromatics, complex, soft and fleshy. Happy Christmas!

I went with my daughter to see the ENO’s performance of The Nutcracker at the London Coliseum last night and am now feeling very festive.

This Christmas I am rediscovering my original, pre-wine obsession of cocktails. I memorised hundreds of cocktail recipes while working in restaurant bars. Here’s Harry MacElhone’s White Lady.
