If I knew how to do it I'd put Keir Starmer and other senior Labour politicians in the same place. To me, they are clearly complicit in the genocide being suffered by the Gaza Palastine actioned by The State of Israel.

I've just been told my response may have given the unacceptable impression that the 'they' are scientists. This is incorrect, 'they' are not scientists, they are 'the powers that be' #tPtb, our betters, apparently. They just know answers to all questions we need to know the answer to.

Ultimately this is authoritarianism used to ensure poor people are paying all the tax possible, whilst leaving the richest to hoard the wealth of the nation they have accumulated and now want, the maximum of, to be handed on to their descendants.

I spoke too soon it plays until ".... over this seri" (series I presume) then it stops. Done it a few times.

If the Police were there to stop a breach of the peace then it is/was a breach of the peace risk to put them up and they should havd been stopped.

Take'em down and ask the Police for protection whilst they are taken down.

I hate this nationalist jingoism intended to cause tensions.

Flags went up in Stirchley a few days ago & were taken down by local residents the same evening.

The men returned with a cherry picker and coned off parts of the road with police accompanying them as they put up new flags along the High Street.

Residents who object have been met with verbal abuse.

Interesting.

I went to listen to Corbyn speak at several meetings because I was convinced the media misrepresented him. A good orator BUT he clearly got beaten by the media and bad faith actors. I fear they will do the same again.
At the final hurdle he fails as Prime Minister material for me.

Take care. Reform UK previously advocated for proportional representation for the House of Commons and proposed holding a referendum on the issue, arguing that PR would better represent voters and increase turnout. As they get closer to outright victory they are going off it. Twas ever thus. ;-(

I see the ID cards, seemingly to be pushed through by Labour without it being a manifesto issue, is a killer blow PR can use. No coalition would hold together if the lead partner had such a brainfart as Labour is having on ID Cards now.

Indeed. Many many more voters than usual will be able to feel their vote counted.

Another wild card is the pre-election standing aside alliances which could make a major difference.

I voted for proportional representation but big media turned too many heads. I don't see that changing, unfortunately.

In a 100 years we may be able to show it gives better or worse results, then, maybe.

I accept there are many who just want to throw a wrench into the gears because too little is going their way but most(?) voters will have more constructive reason to vote as they do, surely?
I still stick to 'wild', because IMHO prediction looks hard and it may take time to unravel after.

Odd place we are in. YourParty seems to be heading to a whacking large membership, maybe Deform too BUT Labour and particularly the Conservatives, who have a lot of MP's are suffering. The Lib Dems hold the middle ground in numbers and MP's.
#GE2029UK is going to be wild.

Can’t say I’m surprised, @rachelmillward.bsky.social and @mothinali.bsky.social both brought me to tears at multiple points. Crazy how hard *actual* empathy hits when it’s been totally absent in politics.

China leads in total offshore wind capacity, its individual farms tend to be smaller, with the largest around at 0.9 GW. Like the USA it has a huge windy interior.

The USA needs to catch up because cheap power from renewables is the key to competitiveness the future wealth for all, for always.

The best time to have started ending our fossil fuel use was 12th August 1912 when it was noted as needed. Anytime since then would have been second best. Now we really must get on with it!

It's very regional. The UK's seas have several of the world's largest offshore wind farms. For instance, Hornsea 2 off the UK coast holds the record as the largest fully operational offshore wind farm at 1.3 GW (2.9 GW more being commissioned). Dogger Bank Wind Farm will be 3.6 GW on completion.

In a capitalist system it's unrealistic to expect any investor to just do the right thing. We see PV and Wind build bids at <3p / kWh and hydro, nuclear at 30 times that.
Either we regulate or we subsidize or both OR capital allocators just fund the cheapest fastest to income capacity.
