Professor @Harvard researching why we age & how to reverse it. Author & host of Lifespan. Mission: Extend healthy life for all. Views are entirely his own 🙏✌️
Trametinib is an approved drug for melanoma. It inhibits MEK1/2 thereby shifting cells away from “grow at all costs” to maintenance & repair🐁Trimetaprib extends lifespan ~15% & with rapamycin a whopping 30%

Scientific misinformation is rampant. Journals known as "paper mills" are profiting by charging academics to quickly publish low quality or fraudulent work, which is then hyped on social media or disseminated for profit to the unsuspecting public by deepfaked scientists on YouTube & TikTok

One of the most rewarding things is inspiring a talented student to work on a problem that initially seems impossible

Up to 40% of drugs that would work in humans fail in mice & are therefore never developed. But mice aren’t humans

In aging research, one government-sanctioned single mouse breed lifespan test can kill future funding, even for a promising therapy

That’s politics, not science

Pancreatic cancer has a 5-year survival of 13% often driven by KRASG12D mutations

New paper shows KRASG12D suppresses SIRT3 & forced SIRT3 expression inhibits cancer in mice

Could SIRT3 boosters (e.g. NMN & NR) prevent pancreatic cancer or treat patients?

The ITOA paper from 2023, in which Michael played a seminal role, not just in generating data, but keeping the team and especially the young students motivated, despite the difficulty of the decade-long project and the harsh scientific critics of the day. R.I.P. Michael 🍻🙏🧎

Five years ago today, our dear friend and colleague Michael Bonkowski passed away unexpectedly. For a decade, he was the life of the Sinclair lab, a major force testing The Information Theory of Aging & cared so deeply about his students they still speak of him like a father🙏

Patent granted!

“Cellular reprogramming to reverse aging and promote organ and tissue regeneration.“

Super proud of the team’s invention of the first truly safe age-reversal technology - for healing injuries, treating diseases, and hopefully extending human lifespan @y_ryan_lu

RIP James D. Watson, co-discoverer of DNAs double helix🥇Jim was a kind, generous mentor to me, who never hesitated to meet, give feedback, or share stories from the early days of molecular biology. His signed double helix hangs in my office as a reminder how one discovery can change the world 🙏

With ER-100 on track for human trials in Q1 2026, this program is moving quickly 💉👁️ Jerry McLaughlin, our CEO, and I are so grateful for the creativity, dedication, and persistence the board & entire R&D team led by Dr. Sharon Rosenzweig-Lipson

In liver disease (MASH), ER-300, an AAV-delivered package of reprogramming genes, improved multiple key liver health biomarkers in an animal model, from ALT/AST to cholesterol and steatosis (fat content) scores

This news is strong evidence that the original vision to develop therapies that reversal of aging to prevent and cure diseases of aging and injuries isn’t just a fanciful idea

All NIH grants supporting my lab's trainees and medical research have been terminated. I am not alone. We scientists work hard to make the world a better place & we will not go down without a fight 🥊

In the 1990s, Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun (in my Department @harvardmed.bsky.social) were interested in how different cell types develop in worms. They discovered microRNA, a new class of tiny RNA molecules that regulate genes called miRNAs...

In the 1990's, antioxidants were all the rage. Today, we know so much more, while the food and beverage industry still promotes antioxidants as though they were the most important thing...

Polyphenols aren't just antioxidants. They signal to the body ➡️ defend and heal. New evidence indicates that polyphenols might prevent cancer by modulating small RNAs...a thread 🧵
