Same day, same topic, but philosophically even more challenging:
Imagine you buy a party, buy elections, buy a country, put other party leaders in jail... but then you yourself vote in an election that you already bought... Can you buy yourself?

Einiges, schreibt @dbchslr.bsky.social

Conference travel, continued. Getting into Napoli for SISP.
As many of you were wondering whether the student protests in Serbia are still active, and amidst expectations that they would die over the summer.

Today is the first day of school. The high school students organised big rallies, and boycotted the start of the school year.
It looks academic freedoms are all over the conference, but some of them a bit badly placed...
On my way to the ECPR General conference 2025. Hope to see many of you there. #ECPRGC25
Why am I sharing this?
1. Out of respect for our student hero. She spoke out yesterday about rape threats by a police instructor.
2. This reflects, in the virtual space, quite well the pattern of violence these days in several Serbian towns.

Serbia: Former state minister of police from the regime party reportedly circulated revenge porn against our student at the Uni Belgrade, Pol Sci.
.
The pictures show our student as an underage girl.

The former minister is documented to have close links to the mafia. She has never been sentenced.
Concerned with conflicts over political liberties & the regime in federal states?

- A new, regime-change driven „genotype of secession“.
- How it mattered in the breakup of the Soviet Union & Yugoslavia.

Nope, if it's a pomme, it's Kartoffel or Härdöpfel (my dialect);
in Hungary and Yugoslavia, they use a poire de terre.
Do you take the apple- or the pear-shaped krumpli for paprikas?

Erd- / Kart- / Härd- / Grund- / Boda -> ground

- apfel / -öpfel / -offel -> apple
- birne / -bire / -pere -> pear

To cut it short, Kyiv knows perfectly that the problem is Budapest, not Chișinău.
Let's speculate a bit: does this delay Ukraine's progress? Or could we speculate that Kyiv sits implicitly on the same train as a 'blind passenger', and will re-join Chișinău once the impasse in Budapest is resolved.
Do you infer that because you think he is a regime person, or do you have evidence? In the absence of it, did you check Google scholar? (I know, it's not a perfect indicator, but...)
Aka... how to get rid of your reputation as an academic in a day.
