I hope not too. I get enthusiastic about all sorts of things which I know isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (very Stede-coded that way) but I like to think I’m an earnest, kind person who cares deeply about others’ feelings (to a fault tbh) who would never conflate a real person with a fictional character

I’m hoping that it was about some other dude who was, like, romanticizing irl pirates rather than a girl who likes history, lives in a place with a dark past, & thought others might find it interesting too 🥺

I always wondered if the bonnet grave thing was about me which would make me feel pretty sad, honestly. I shared a pic of the historical marker bc it’s at a park that I go to every few wks, have since I was a kid, my aunt even got married there. It’s a nice spot on the water with benches to read.
