I'd rather be reading Murderbot.🪐
Next Read: Vanishing Treasures, A Beatiary of Extraordinary Endangered Creatures by Katherine Rundell

So far it's been a simple, nonfiction read with short chapters and snippets about endangered animals

Awesome day at work today (i work at a library). We had an author talk and signing. I got to meet Noelle W. Ihli who wrote Go Ask Andrea and Molly O'Sullivan, with her debut novel The Book of Autumn and I got 2 new books to read! 💙📚

Palate cleanser: A Fellowship of Games and Fables by J. Penner.

Is this a fake-dating grumpy sunshine cliche? Sure is.

Is it brilliant and thought-provoking? Absolutely not.

Is it exactly what is promised and doesn't have delusions of granduer? Yes!

I had Black Flags, Blue Waters by Eric Jay Dolin in my house for over 3 months, lol. And then i saw the audiobook. It was so great to listen to. A solid pirate book that focuses on America , not europe. I looked at the book too bc there are A LOT of pics that i missed by listening to it. 💙📚💡📚🎧 🏴‍☠️🦜☠️

Tom Selleck's memior You Never Know was really great. Very honest, and he doesn't shy away from hard topics. I really enjoyed listening to this. Selleck reads it himself. 💙📚💡📚🎧

Now, Automatic Noodle by Annalee Newitz is cozy sci-fi. I bought a copy of this before i returned the library copy. It's almost as good as Murderbot. There's real conflict here and great characters. Strongly recommend! 💙📚🪐

Moon Soul by Nathaniel Luscombe was dull. The cover is the best part. It's touted as cozy sci-fi but it's superficial with bland characters and convenient problem solving. But if you need some therapeutic affirmations then read this. 💙📚

NOVELLAS: i read the duology The Fireborne Blade and The Bloodless Princes by Charlotte Bond. I didn't like these much and only read the 2nd one bc it was easy to skim in places. Whiny MC, not sapphic and what is there is weak. And the worst part, the spines ... 💙📚

My spooky book of the month was Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wiswell. It was romance, not horror. It was fine. I feel like it could have been 100 pages shorter. The middle dragged. It had some twists that i feel like i should have seen coming but i liked Shesheshen's humanity. 💙📚
November 2, 2025 at 6:40 PM
NOVELS: the first novel was Five Broken Blades by Mai Corland. I wanted to like this way more than I did. We jumped through so many characters heads that we never really got to know any of them. I might read the rest of the series only bc the sprayed edges are beautiful and i won't be unhauling 💙📚

Time for my #readingwrapup for October. I read 16 books: 3 novels, 2 graphic novels, 2 manga, 4 novellas, and 4.5 audiobooks with a .5 nonfiction book, lol. I'll explain. I had an average rating of 3.5 but read some really good ones too. I got a good balance of audio and nonfiction this month. 💙📚

I found this gorgeous copy of Little Women in the library donation pile. It's from 1926. It has a few gorgeous color plates and pretty end pages. But the best part is the inscription in the front that says "To Cappy from Helm on her 11th birthday, Dec 21, 1927" 💙📚

This book is chonky. I need a pillow and my book-holding thumb hurts, but at least it has a good page flop. 💙📚

Finished Black Flags, Blue Waters by Eric Jay Dolin. I listened to the audiobook read by Paul Brion 💙📚🎧 This book was cool! I like pirates, so I'm biased. I liked this bc it focused on American and not European pirates. I liked learning that early colonists actually approved of and supported pirates
