A 2012 ford Fiesta with full size roof box and hybrid bike on the roof, also towing a trailer. Taken above Hawkshead in the Lake District where the car had driven, laden like this, up a 12% incline. It later went up a 25% incline on Wales carrying all this kit in the same holiday.

Found possibly the most ludicrous complaint against the mansion tax so far on the Chronicle's story about 65 £2m houses sold over the last 5 years:
A reader has commented "What happens if I WIN a multi million pound house on competitors [sic] like Omaze? I haven't got thousands of pounds to pay mansion tax" I'm hoping they're trolling and they aren't actually that stupid, but who knows. Either way, while other commentators did point out they could just sell the house, a particularly cutting response of "you are not going to win a house on Omaze" did make me chuckle.

A round tower topped with a conical roof on which sits an arrow weathervane and a golden crescent. Below this is a circular crenellated platform supported by curved stove buttresses. This looks very pretty but the walls are barely knee high at the tallest point and an absolute death trap by the look of it. The tower, one of two at the Powis Gates, were funded by reparations to slave owners when slavery was abolished and the slaves were freed. It goes without saying that the slaves were given nothing in recompense.

Because I was visiting my aunt in Aberdeen and it turns out it was only 2 minutes slower to drive all the way across the country to Carlisle, and then back across in Scotland than taking the A1.
And the A69 isn't all dual carriageway either 🙄
Google navigating from Newcastle in north east England to Aberdeen east Scotland. Five hours eighteen minutes going in a straightish line North to Edinburgh. Driving west to Carlisle first, then North West to Glasgow, before finally heading in the right direction is somehow only 2 minutes slower at five hours twenty minutes...

Donald Trump is a terrible president. Yougov opinion poll tracker from 2019 to present for the question "So far, do you think Donald Trump has been..." The selectable answers are: Don't know. A great president. A good president. An average president. A poor president. A terrible president. The results are presented as a line graph against time. 5 of the 6 options sit at the bottom of the graph at around the 10% mark. One answer stands alone sitting significantly and continuously above all others at 50-60% of respondents. That answer is "A terrible president". More than half of UK adults consistently think Donald trump is a terrible president. Net positive/negative (Great/good vs bad/terrible) is currently -53%.
