There is growing pressure from our allies that we ourselves are not enough. We have to prove our loyalty. And our politicians don’t have the self confidence to say fuck you. It reminds me of that old quote “the weird thing about the Irish is they refuse to be English”

There's so many people of irish descent in UK cities like london and liverpool. Do they have Irish language schools and cómhrá groups? I bet loads of people would start learning given the right atmosphere and a little push.

Fianna Fáil are a blight on Irish society. Their candidate was a joke. I'm obviously happy he's gone. But if this news had broken earlier it might have offered them an opportunity to field a better candidate. This kind of interference is not good for a society, its good for selling papers.
