I'm teaching a course at the Irish Writers' Centre this spring where we will start out working on basic ideas and try to move them forward to script stage, it was a lot of fun when we did it last year, very happy they have asked me back:

Wrestling is a self-contained story.

People get in the ring, try to one-up each other, and eventually get the pin that wins the match, placing them one step closer to championship contention or giving them the advantage over their rival(s).

Everything else falls behind that.
Keep in mind AEW fans, Continental Classic starts 🤼

So expect a lot of bad wrestling podcasters to repeatedly stress that AEW just has matches and not stories

They'll go back to fretting over the dangers of AEW in the new year

The Tesco Bag Man thread is absolutely incredible - yet another display, if another was needed, of the parallels between late-capitalist brain-rot and doubling-down on being factually incorrect.

We, as a country, really have to stop pretending like Van Morrison is some venerable figure or rock god.

Tremendous musician in his day, yes; in some ways a tragic figure, yes; but there is zero need for anyone to consistently act the bollocks like this.

19th century attitudes, low expectations & no urgency, means we're about 50+ years behind when it comes to socio-economic independence of disabled people in Ireland. And the biggest disability gap & low rates of employment for disabled people in the EU.

Says it all about the letter writer - physically disabled people are apparently only good for "getting the tea".

Houses by national service, also! Literally anything other than removing the profit motive and state-led building at cost, hah?

This is maybe the sort of thing outlets shouldn't be clickbaiting with.

Illness of any kind, and awareness thereof, are too serious, and affect too many people, to be reduced to trivialities or an ad-rev begging bowl.

Do better, @belfastlive.co.uk.
