Ivy Benson (1913–1993) was an English musician and bandleader, who led an all-women swing band.
Benson and her band gained prominence in the 1940s, headlining variety theatres and topping the bill at the London Palladium, and became the BBC's resident house band.

While picking up plastic from the beach earlier this year, we spotted this tiny Playmobil mouse among all the nurdles, biobeads and microplastics. Curiously it was the second Playmobil mouse we had discovered, though neither was found at Mousehole, disappointingly.

I wrote an article in January about where we have ended up in English law re. "deception as to sex", and what that means for trans people. I think it's likely we can expect to see more of these sorts of cases going forward.

Timoleague Friary was built in the 13th century on top of a much older early Christian site founded by the patron saint of honey and beekeepers, Molaga. The village gets its name from the friary, not the other way around; Timoleague (Teach Molaga) means "the house of Molaga". Grand evening for it.

I wrote that we can petition Parliament for a special concession for trans inclusion at Kenwood Ladies’ Pond. The deadline to submit such private Bill for it to become a local Act next year is 27 November. If we want to make an impact, we must act now.
