Almost done with the rough draft of a new story. What if one night, as you are walking, a severed limb suddenly lands on your head from out of nowhere? That's the inciting event of this short story, and uncovering the truth behind this grisly mystery has been a blast.

Picked up Meditations by Marcus Aurelius the other day. This one is for research purposes. One character in my novel–Daryl's his name–is reading this book. I want to understand how this book might influence his thinking. Plus, there might be something I get from it as well.

The story continues!
I just crossed the hundred page mark of my novel in my notebooks. I'm really happy about this, because I had to work through a block to get here–one character had remained a mystery until now. I love those aha moments.

I've started keeping a dream journal. There are so many seeds of inspiration for stories and self-examination embedded in the sometimes bizarre and often chaotic experience of dreams. Do any of you find inspiration in dreams?
