This week

I held my weekly MP surgery, where constituents raised concerns with me about the growing division in our society. I have had many constituents contact me with similar worries. I have written to Oldham Council to discuss how we can address these concerns locally.

During the Second World War, on the night of 10 May 1941, over 700 tons of explosives rained down on London. The Houses of Parliament were struck by several incendiary bombs. The House of Commons Chamber was engulfed by flames and destroyed. But we rebuild, we restore, we continue.

I have just attended the launch of the #DESJusticeUK campaign in #Parliament.

Between 1940s and 1980s, women who suffered multiple miscarriages were often prescribed Diethylstilbestrol, a synthetic form of oestrogen.

This year was the 7th year of my annual memory walk which I set up as part of the #DementiaFriendlyOldham campaign.

As Co-Chair of the #DementiaAPPG, we undertake inquiries on e.g., what research there is on how to prevent Dementia. We know that keeping active and engaged is really important.

Our @labouruk.bsky.social Government is rebalancing the rights of renters in the new #RentersRightsAct. Private sector and building a future where tenants are protected, respected and empowered.

A historic moment for renters across the country and we’re proud to deliver it.

Today is the #UN Day for the #EradicationofPoverty.

Poverty is not inevitable - it is a consequence of the political decisions. Between 2010 and 2024 poverty across thecountry, and for children and disabled people in particular got much worse.

This very moving exhibition was in Parliament this week. It depicts quilts from different parts of the country made to remember people who'd died by suicide by their loved ones. This one was made by people from Greater Manchester.
