Maybe the early drop will keep crowds smaller when I’m up there again next weekend. Silver lining?

I was up in the whites yesterday and it looks like foliage is mostly over on the mountains.

I just looked through the contract for my forthcoming book, and yes, there's language to that effect in there.

If publisher submits claim then it’s technically a 50/50 split but convos could happen between you guys. I think some publishers have stated they will give 100% to authors

i never had central ac. only window units. the heat pumps are amazing in the summer.

I got heat pumps and kept my gas furnace. I just use the furnace a lot less through. when using gas alone, our upstairs would get too hot. running heat pumps on both levels prevents that. and the gas kicks in mainly to top off the heat pumps when it's too cold for the heat pumps to fully keep up.

as @cwolbrecht.bsky.social says, the greatest honor. the chance to be featured in this thread doesn't come around often, so I'm happy to savor the moment today.

I can't find it anymore, but @smotus.bsky.social had a great essay titled something like "we freaking warned you," with lots of useful PS references several years ago.

I’ve only been to Texas twice, and one of those trips involved HEB tortillas. Also I remember being struck by all of the Texas shaped and branded stuff everywhere.
