It's been one heck of a journey! The boat is currently anchored on the Chesapeake, and the original goal has made a pivot. Trucking from anywhere on the east coast seems to have tripled, despite fuel prices being down. Whether it's because it's prime season or guys just trying to scam a woman...

More engine troubles hit me really hard again. Hired a new captain, so I was hopeful. He at least is much more knowledgeable about cruisers and mechanics. We left Barnegat Bay Sunday morning and had a beautiful day heading past Atlantic City, Assateague Island and heading past Chincoteague Island...

Welcome to my life and how I can fuck it up 101. Better known as, watch me fall on my face. Again. 😢

A lone loon on a dreary day. (I think it's a loon?)

Boat finally finished and back in the water! Now I'm just waiting for good weather. Holed up in Barnegat Bay. Looks like nasty winds until the weekend. Oh well, guess I will catch up on paperwork. *sigh*

Worst. President. EVER.

Adirondacks are not quite as brilliant this year, not enough rain this season. Still beautiful driving home, tho. Lake Champlain was extremely low when I went to pick up my car. Marina still doing haulouts because they have many extra boats coming in, one of the few marinas with a deep well. 10/21

...no way to push thru or back off. I had to call Boat Tow. John came and worked for nearly two hours to get us off and then towed us to the marina. As we waited for a haulout to access everything, I decided to get a rental car and drive to Philly to pick up my spare parts (sent them to Anna's).

I handled the inlet like a boss! It was so amazing, thrilling! The waves crashing against the rocks was motivation to *not* be among them! Once past the inlet, it was super calm, and we slowly made our way thru to the marina. Until we hit a sandbar. I had followed the wrong buoys! Gah! There was...

So much has happened... we stayed overnight in Manasquan and headed out Thursday morning (a week ago) to the sea, hugging the coast, but far enough to just hit the rolls, not the breaks. About 30 minutes out, we lost the port engine. It had been sluggish the day before. Limped into Barnegat Bay and,

We got an early start, 7:10am. Cruised by Lady Liberty before noon!

Staying one more night here on the Hudson. Then tomorrow we journey on. When the wind died down for a few moments, we pulled up to the fuel dock this afternoon to top off. The winds picked back up soon after we were done. Then this big beautiful lady pulled into a slip across from us. Wow! 🙃

Looks like a third night in Haverstraw may be the case... winds are whipping up and down the Jersey coast. Feeling a bit sad. But we need to stay safe.
October 14, 2025 at 10:16 AM
We made it on to Haverstraw after two nights in Troy. The weather is rainy and cold and miserable. We'll likely be here two nights as well 😔

We made it thru all 11 canal locks, and the federal lock to the Hudson River. A few bumps in some of the locks took out a fender(the bumper thing) & my dinghy is deflated. Hopefully we just popped the air plug out on that. Went to head out to a full serv marina for the night but have a dead battery😞

It was a c-c-c-cold morning! Woke up to frost on the bow, frost on the "windows" (isling glass/plexiglass). We soldiered on to lock three, with a bit of unwanted help from the tri-moran that joined our trip south. He got an earful from captain and we made it thru the the locks plus the federal lock.

Aside from the ferries on the water, and a lone sailboat out getting in their last licks before haulout, we are the only boat out here. Makes one feel very small on the vast waters of Lake Champlain. But I'm liking it. Ticondaroga ferry

By Tuesday we had made it to Whitehall NY, our first lock to enter the canal. Things running well, we would need to fuel up and maybe a pumpout. We stayed at the Whitehall Marina and ate a good dinner at the bar. Lynn runs everything, the kitchen, bar, and marina. I had a burger, Charles had wings.

Monday night, full moon over Willsboro. First thru the trees, then a bit later in the clear sky.

Here's a few pics of my journey... underway on Monday, Oct 6th,2025. And docked for the night at Willsboro.

I have been wavering this week. But things are moving forward 🚢

Feeling annoyed and a bit defeated as it's one problem after another. Spent the morning running around looking for a part for my AC. Of course the hardware stores and auto parts stores can't help me. And the 'help' here at the marina is not the least bit helpful.

went to the store for butter, and came home with surf and turf! 😆
