Nope, got to disagree here. There absolutely is a fairer way, Bristol Council clearly just don't want to hear it.

Whichever way you look at it, relentlessly chasing people for money they don't have isn't a sensible choice.

These stories only reinforce narratives that overindebtedness is an individual issue. It's not. It's an exploitative system that denies people basic building blocks of life, funnelling what little they have upwards for the wealthiest.

Obviously it's always nice for our stats to be quoted, but let's be clear - this is not a solution to debt.

Someone on the standard rate of universal credit would take *11 years* of spending every single penny paying back debt, not including interest, to pay off this much debt.
