wow this episode was kind of. phenomenally insane? and the best part is that it might've had the best animation and direction in the series, yet has no fight scenes whatsoever.

Gorgeously animated film, a great prequel. Okkotsu's arc was very well-done and compelling, he's also refreshingly different compared to most shonen protagonists with his personality being very timid and humble. I do feel like its more effective after watching season 1.

Avoided this series for a while, because a lot of people only talked about it in terms of impressive fight choreography, making me think its substanceless. But it ended up being surprisingly funny, compelling, emotional and with something to say. We will be watching season 2

was thinking of moomin midwinter because i got to its adaptation in the anime. i heard that it "toned it down" in terms of atmosphere but honestly i disagree. the first half, where moomin is by himself captures the mood of the book perfectly. there is no music, just moomin's voice and sound effects

its not like english localization always follows what japanese has going on in terms of the pun names (and ultimately it still does fit him), i just expected that they would also have some play on "detective" but nope i guess
