Oh, it didn't even come close to being at the top. Black averaged a score of 6.8 out of 10 from EGM.

See you in 2032, when Nintendo completes the trilogy by adding Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom to Nintendo Classics on Switch 3.

Two of the best NES games of all time and a great port of Bionic Commando. Also Kid Icarus 2.

I would not put a second November announcement past Nintendo. Last year they had the vanilla NSO announcement on Nov 26 and then Expansion Pack on Nov 27. I could see them announcing Mario Sunshine tomorrow. I think we get two more GameCube drops before the end of 2025.

And it's not like Capcom just has a team of Mega Man vets waiting to make a new game. The indie devs were so inspired by the franchise that they felt they could build onto it. Let Capcom make more Monster Hunter games, or whatever they are passionate about. Leave Mega Man to the indies.

Historically speaking, indie devs have done a better job making Mega Man games than Capcom.

Oddly enough, you've hit on the one thing keeping me positive about the service -- with Virtual Boy coming, next year will probably had more games added than 2025. We might get back up to 50 - 55. That's the power of the Virtual Boy.

Exactly. I suspect this means we'll see even fewer Genesis and Nintendo 64 games in 2026. What I worry about is that Nintendo will forget about the vanilla NSO tier. Only 4 standard NSO games have come out since the Switch 2 launch, and one of them was a second Fatal Fury game in 2025.

I agree that Nintendo may feel like they can coast (especially with the launch of new hardware), but I feel like this is a losing strategy. As long as they have a two-tier system, they have to justify the extra cost for the Expansion Pack on a monthly basis.

The two-tier has a lot of issues, and while it would probably be an unpopular move, I feel like they probably should have phased out the $20 tier with the launch of Switch 2. They also need to commit to a certain amount of games each year. It was 55 & 56 in 2023 & 2024. Lucky to hit 35 in 025.

This is an especially frustrating time for Switch 1 owners who subscribe to Expansion Pack but have not upgraded to Switch 2. Since June, they have received only 3 games for the higher-priced subscription (Forsaken 2 on N64 and Mr. Driller 2 & Klonoa on GBA). They have been completely left behind.
