Why would i buy a new game at launch when inevitably there'll be years of patches and DLC down the road. Waiting for a Definitive edition, usually at a discount, is so much better

The irony of following "extremists can't recognize their own extremist-ness" with "it should literally be illegal to be mean to anyone" is almost too much to bear.

Half-Elves are persecuted in most fantasy settings because the truth is they're functionally just better humans. A significantly longer lifespan but none of the drawbacks that would come from being a full blooded elf. If they weren't persecuted they'd take over society.

There's a kind of history alteration around social movements that stsrted out unpopular but were later vindicated/successful. They get misremembered as being more popular than they were because people who participated interpret their inventual victory as having been inevitable, and because-
The Iraq War was in fact very popular for just long enough to get Bush re-elected. People turned against the war in late 2004/early 2005.
Okay I’ve seen several quotes of this thread talking about how people think the Iraq War was super popular with the American people and there was no pushback at all like is this the narrative today???
