2001 - Roxette. I feel like this one's for the gen X:ers out there. They've sold more than 100 million CDs worldwide and have four no 1 US hits: "The Look", "Listen to Your Heart", "It Must Have Been Love" and "Joyride".

2000 - Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. "Why don't you just give it to ABBA." No, because these two men have continued making music under their own name - and they're very good at it. They also created film scores, musicals etc etc.

1999 - Cheiron Productions. Who? Oh, that's where Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, Robyn, NSYNC, Britney Spears, and Westlife produced many of their greatest hits. Also where Max Martin and several other producers and songwriters first started out.

1998 - Max Martin - of course! This man is behind an insane amount of hits. If you look at the global top 50 list from the mid-90s till now, I bet he has at least one song each year. From The Weeknd w/ Blinding Lights, through Taylor Swift w/ Blank Space to Britney Spears w/ Baby one more time

The first time the prize was awarded was in 1997, to The Cardigans. "Lovefool" has over 840 million streams on spotify. The late 90s truly were a golden age for swedish pop music. Sweden is big on the heavy metal scene, and the fact that two of the band members are metal heads only feels right.
