With a history of discriminatory practices, Craig Trainor has been confirmed as Assistant Secretary for the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Millions of Americans already face barriers to housing. Appointing someone trying to dismantle civil rights protections will only cause more harm.

Instead of leading the public to much needed housing resources and fair housing assistance, this is 1st thing ppl see when they go to the HUD website today. It looks like the focus on the customer experience has long gone out the door with this administration like so many other things.

Creation of housing discrimination laws to fight racial and other illegal discrimination were created by Congress to be enforced. The administration has no legal right to take that away. The facts in this article should cause alarm to everyone. Oversight is urgent.

We condemn all forms of political violence, full stop. But HR. 719 goes further, celebrating rhetoric that caused harm. Leaders must prioritize rejecting hate at all levels.

📢 Yesterday, we joined the National Federation of Federal Employees and urged a federal court to hold the block of Trump’s executive order dismantling the Minority Business Development Agency — a vital engine for minority-owned business growth and the economy.

We oppose the consideration of TX Sen. Brandon Creighton for Texas Tech University System Chancellor. Why? He’s authored bills that restrict inclusive curriculum threatening civil rights for students and faculty. Education should empower, not exclude.

Oklahoma’s HB 1775 faces a legal challenge. In a new brief, LDF and Southern Poverty Law Center argue it violates students’ First Amendment rights. “HB 1775 unlawfully censors topics disfavored by political leaders,” said Mide Odunsi LDF’s fellow to Oklahoma’s KOCO 5 News.

LaCour backed a racist map in Allen v. Milligan — now he wants a lifetime seat on the federal bench. We wrote and told the Senate: absolutely not.

ICYMI: Missouri is redrawing its congressional map! And removing one of two Black districts in a state with nearly 700K Black residents. Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act protects against discrimination. Mid-cycle changes that dilute Black voting power are unfair and illegal.

80% of Washingtonians don’t want Trump’s federal agents in their city. But Mayor Bowser just signed a new order to keep them there — bringing more armed officers and making things less safe, especially for Black communities.

The 1921 Tulsa Race War is an undertold story about decimation of a thriving Black community in OK. The work of the Terrance Crutcher Found. is part of a community working to ensure the story is told and investments in and justice for the future of Greenwood and its people are made. President Trump’s attempt to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, the first woman of color to serve in this role, is an abuse of power. Period.

The central bank’s independence is fundamental to our economy & Trump’s actions threaten not only our financial system but the rule of law itself.
