Fantastic PB last night, memorization and execution are developing well, getting close to Mabo's 3:10:57. Had a couple boss fights go a little slower than desired and a bad Silver Fort solo fire floor, but otherwise, felt great. Next goal is sub-3:10:00.

Wow, smashed that goal of sub-3:20:00. My run went really well, had few unexpected deaths, and got some great boss fights, like a 2-round Earth Elemental and a fast Bami. The decreased load time from playing on MiSTer witn "Fast CD Seek" mode definitely helped as well. Next goal is sub-3:15:00. 1/3

I finally got the Scalable Video Switch parts I ordered last year and updated my setup last night. Still a mess, but I have a couple open SCART inputs even with the Super Famicom and MiSTer hooked up. This continues to be a fun and neverending project.

Had a fantastic run today without any deaths against bosses, and was able to defeat the last boss's first form a lot earlier earlier than expected. Happy to get sub-3:25:00, glad there are still things I can optimize. Next goal is sub 3:20:00 (which is probably going to be a hard time to achieve).

Played The Old King's Crown last night. I was worried it would create some points of rough analysis paralysis, but surprisingly, it flowed pretty well and was a great time. Had some good laughs with the tricks we played on each other. I dug the interactivity, excited to play it again soon.

Got sub-3:30:00 tonight. Boss fights went better, though I had to do some backup strats a couple times (like getting another elixir after it got used against Gruda). Still more to learn, especially with Mabo's 2016 run being around 3:11:00. My next goal is sub-3:25:00.

8. Started speedrunning Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys

8. Started speedrunning Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys
-Played it for the first time couple months or so ago, I enjoyed the story, music, and surprisingly deep boss battles with the bump combat. I saw there weren't many runs of it, so I decided to run it, glad I did. Lots to learn still, but very rewarding.

- Wow, this is the most robust randomizer I have ever played. I can see why TheAxeMan301 and others like it so much. I am still fairly new, but it has been a lot of fun each time I played. I also made some fun hero skins, like TASBot, Blazer, and SMS Alf.

With some good lessons from watching the New Game WR run (specifically the bosses), I made some great strides tonight. Had some rough grinds and a couple deaths against a later boss, but it still worked out and I got a sub 3:40:00! Still a lot of potential and more to learn. Next goal: sub-3:35:00.
Tested the S-Video feature of theTurbonanza I installed in my PC Engine Duo R. Wow, the colors are so much more saturated on the RGB output (from my understanding, PCE/TG-16 uses special encoding in the composite and S-Video for greater color resolution, which is not on the RGB mod's output).

I completed a New Game run of Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys on my PC Engine Duo R on an authentic copy last night. Unlike NG+, the exp is not doubled, so harder bosses. The goals were to see what the load times are on real hardware and complete the game so I can play NG+ on this system. Both achieved!
Still had a few deaths, but getting more familiar with the run and made some great strides. I can definitely see that deathless would get this about 10 minutes faster for me, but I also need to get more familiar with the fast strats on the bosses and improve my end game.

Finished another run, amazing how much of a difference dying a lot less and getting more confidence in the route helps. Will probably be a week or two until the next run, but I got some good things to practice, namely bosses and watching through Capndrake's route. Thanks for the support!

After engineering school, I was stoked to get an Engineer's Ring. It is a positive reminder of the long hours I put in to graudate, well as the oath to use my powers for good. Nearly 20 years after taking the oath, it didn't fit anymore, so I finally ordered a new one, and it feels much better.

I never played the video game Slay the Spire, but the board game has been great so far. I've been playing cooperatively with my kiddo, who normally takes joy in crushing me in Star Realms. It's been fun seeing her enthusiasm and learning of the combos. We survived Act I, excited for Act II.
