Uncut Best New Albums 2025. Trying the 80 albums that make the list for this. The last two years have been challenging but led to some discoveries
Having got a red door it needed to be suitably dressed for Christmas. A new outside light installed two weeks ago and the lantern only found last week. I finally have my traditional Christmas door 😃😃

BBC2 are repeating 'Gone Fishing' Christmas specials. Last night they showed the 2020 one back where they visit Bob's old home and area and meet up with Chris Rea. My favourite episode of the whole show, it's funny, warm and quite touching. An absolute delight #Gonefishing

The berry wreath was for the gate but the red door needs greenery #christmaswreaths🎄

Surprisingly I have done the Uncut 80 of 25 before 2026. I actually thought it was a rather dull chart. I've bought Modern Nature looking for the S.G. Goodman one. For light relief I'm listening to my short Christmas playlist now open.spotify.com/playlist/2lt...

I do like seeing the Christmas lights appearing and bringing our own out of hibernation. This year has the added bonus of a rearranged living room and some new furniture so it's needed more thought - not just reproducing previous year's #christmasdecorations🎄✨

Maybe my age but when I read comments on how loud My Bloody Valentine were live I can only think what's the point in a gig if you need earplugs or why do you want your hearing damaged more than it already is. Same people probably moan if they have to sit next to the photocopier

I still think at times that Stokes is still the same person Carlos Braithwaite hit for four sixes in the T20 World Cup Final in 2016. Never apologise, never change and never admit you might be wrong

U&Gold about to show the 'Dinnerladies' Christmas episode. I think this is greatest sit com Christmas special. It has everything. Perfect writing and acting. Total genius #VictoriaWood #Dinnerladies

Yet another new cricket format - two innings limited over matches. Surprised they launched it in the first Test of an Ashes Series though #Ashes2025

Everything about Mani was so cool in this - the shirt, the flares, the moves and that bass... oh that bass. Stunned that he has gone www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4H4...

I've always liked Simon Armitage and I like him even more now for saying we should use dead or died instead of euphemisms like passed or lost. We shouldn't be hiding reality behind soft words

A victory for perseverance as I seem to have been dipping into this since the first Christmas, not helped by my refusal to read it out of season. Finally finished it. Favourite story by Nicholas Blake, pen name for Cecil Day-Lewis #booksky

A combination of sorting out and impending festive season leaves me wondering about recreating Christmas 1967. The December Family Circle from that year full of helpful advice

When I was young there would be the Remembrance Ceremony at the War Memorial then all the veterans, dignitaries, cubs, scouts, guides etc would march to one of the churches for a service. It was quite a sight as flags were brought in. Now it's as quick as they can get to the pub

Saw the first domestic Christmas tree today, up and ready to be decorated. Same person is always early. Probably be down by teatime on Christmas Day (and yes I know it's up to them when they put it up, already got our Christmas bedding on!)

We're now diagnosing dead 19th century authors with 'isms' are we?

Time for the end of year music mags I will attempt to do the Uncut 80 albums again. It's been a bit a plod the last two years and I'm not overly optimistic for this lot. My sub issue hasn't arrived but I've had a look on Readly and the number one doesn't fill me with confidence
