It's the last Sunday of Christmas, nearly Twelfth Night and Epiphany so here's December's end of year book bundle. The traditional mix of annuals, autobiography, non-fiction and fiction

Splendidly practical Christmas presents mean I can now make pastries of all sizes and then work then off with well lit early morning walks thanks to this hugely powerful torch (the box calls it a tactical flashlight)

Having got a red door it needed to be suitably dressed for Christmas. A new outside light installed two weeks ago and the lantern only found last week. I finally have my traditional Christmas door 😃😃

🎤Pulp
💿More

Now, I like Pulp but album of the year (In Mojo as well)?

I wasn't keen on 'Spike Island' and avoided the album until now. It's not bad but it's just Pulp doing Pulp things just as they always did but a bit older, all the familiar tropes and obsessions

🎤Stereolab
💿Instant Holograms On Metal Film

God knows how this made the top 80 let alone got to number two. It's dreadful

3⃣

🎤Suede
💿Antidepressants

Suede's post-punk goth album wears its influences on its sleeve. Magazine, The Cure, Siouxsie, New Order are all in there. They do it brilliantly especially on the blistering opening four tracks. It tails of slightly but is a great album

🎤Wednesday
💿Bleeds

A good diverse album, flitting from country rock to grungy guitar rock with a few points in between. I liked this a lot and I think it will get better on repeated listens

🎤Richard Dawson
💿End Of The Middle

Not for me on any level.

6⃣

🎤Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band
💿New Threats From The Soul

This was an interesting one at times it was a bit to deep into country territory for me but there were also some really good moments. Worth another listen

7⃣

🎤Cass McCombs
💿Interior Live Oak

This fell into the quite like and good in bits category. 16 songs and over an hour long. I think it may have benefited from a little pruning

8⃣

🎤Jeff Tweedy
💿Twilight Override

A thirty song, triple album coming in at just under two hours. I made it to the end of album one but it didn't work for me so I gave up. Not sure why as it has lots of the tropes I like but there's something that doesn't click

9⃣

🎤Bon Iver
💿Sable, Fable

Two very distinct sides - one folky and back to the beginning the other more poppy (for want of a better description) and overall it's pretty good. There's also the possibility this is the end of 'Bon Iver'

🎤Robert Plant with Suzi Dian
💿Saving Grace

An album of covers and it's really not bad at all. Plant has never really been on my radar either with his band or solo but that is starting to change and this certainly makes me want to hear more

🎤Little Simz
💿Lotus

In the past I've found her voice quite difficult to get along with but it sounds better to me on this. Better than I expected

This year's berry wreath awaiting hanging on the gate. This one is quite laden with various berries #christmasdecorations🎄✨ #christmaswreaths🎄

I do like seeing the Christmas lights appearing and bringing our own out of hibernation. This year has the added bonus of a rearranged living room and some new furniture so it's needed more thought - not just reproducing previous year's #christmasdecorations🎄✨

🎤S.G. Goodman
💿Planting By The Signs

This is just fabulous. AS perfect blend of Americana, rock, indie over superb story telling all sung with a sensational emotive voice. Easily the find of this list so far

🎤William Tyler
💿Time Indefinite

Post-rock Americana was not what I was expecting but that appears to be and it doesn't make for as bad a listen as that description may imply

🎤Caroline
💿Caroline 2

Seems to be a widely loved album from all ends of the music media. Post-rock, avant-folk are just some of the descriptions I've read. 8 people playing 8 different songs is what I hear. If we go post post-rock will we just get back to rock?

🎤Modern Nature
💿The Heat Warps

I'm not aware of having heard Modern Nature before or how this fits in their work but it is excellent. Very straightforward 2 guitars, bass and drums but with a space to breathe.
